ABOUT THE FUNCTION:

With our subscriptions revenues and subscriber base continuing to grow, we are looking to recruit a New Business Subscription Sales Executive to join our existing team to drive revenue growth across our range of mining and energy products.

Aspermont's success over the past five years within subscriptions has been built from our account-based selling and marketing approach, and this role plays a vital part within this process.

You will be part of an international subscriptions sales team who are primarily located across the UK and Australia that maintain and drive activity across MNN, AMM, ENB, PNG capitalizing on our strong recent new business performance, and the opportunities that are available to Aspermont across both the wider Asia region as well as Australia.

YOUR ROLE

Reporting to the Group Sales Director, the role will take responsibility for bringing in new business from existing inbound leads, as well as proactively selling into targeted institutions. The role is fast paced, and you will be selling to an international client base across a range of publications and services.

You will be joining an existing international subscription sales team spanning London, Perth and Belo Horizonte, and should enjoy working and being part of a team, as well being happy to work independently.

You will be working across both the mining finance and mining operations industries, as well as energy which is a huge growth opportunity for us as a business.

Excellent leads will be provided by marketing, these will range from prospects downloading sample information to people requesting trials. Alongside these enquiries you will be expected to be proactive and be able to show initiative and build your own pipeline of new business prospects. You should be confident in managing and developing sales opportunities spanning the complete sales cycle, from prospecting to closing. Full sales training and support will be given, alongside industry and product training to ensure you are fully equipped to succeed in your role.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE BUSINESS WILL INCLUDE:

  • Achieving monthly personal new business subscription sales targets and helping the team to achieve its overall

  • Helping increase our subscriber footprint in Asia across mining companies, investors and suppliers.

The company has a strong ambition to grow events in the mining sector and use the power of its other brands and expertise to expand into other natural resource areas such as energy and agriculture over the coming years and is looking for a like-minded leader to deliver the vision.

Both portfolios have a live and digital element with the recent successful launches of Mining Journal Select 365 and Future of Mining 365 providing our community with on-demand content and a virtual marketplace all year round.

Future of Mining events are uniquely positioned in that they facilitate the highest level of strategic discussions between the C-suite, heads of mine operations, METs, support services, policy makers and regulatory bodies. Mining Journal Select events recognise the difficulty investors face in sifting through the 2000+ listed resources equities to identify the few worth greater investigation. Only the C-suite from projects which have passed the 24-metric selection process are invited to attend the event and speak alongside the most influential in the investment community. Mining Journal Select is the premium networking event for the investor community with footprints in Australia and Europe.

The events division will be a busy and challenging environment requiring you to deliver multiple projects at once. You will continuously collaborate and have the support of our sales, marketing, delegates sales, editorial and digital team to ensure the successful delivery of our live and digital events.

YOUR ROLE:

The successful candidate will lead the operational planning and delivery for all Aspermont's live and future events including our live Future of Mining, Mining Journal Select and Farmer of the Year events. Reporting to the Events Director, this position is best suited for someone who can take on the day-to-day demands of growing & delivering a high-quality product with respect to live and digital conferences, exhibitions, and bespoke events.

Your role will be to lead on the planning and delivery of all our events to ensure they are best in class through their look feel, customer service and delegate & sponsor experience. Not only will you work with the events director to build your own team to support Aspermont's ambitious growth plans, but you will also play a pivotal role in ensuring the marketing, production and sales team have everything they need to deliver on their functions.

You will play a crucial role in building out from the current portfolio and Aspermont's wider capabilities to meet ambitious commercial goals in terms of attendee, exhibitor and sponsor numbers, revenue, and profitability. You will play a pivotal role in defining what Aspermont's events division will look like in coming years, which requires an organised, commercial, creative, and collaborative mindset to capture the significant opportunity to expand across new territories, sectors, and formats. This requires a strategic acumen in order to prioritise and plan.

Event Operation:

Pre event:

  • Manage the events operation team to ensure that all events are delivered within budget and meet expectations
  • Effective management and overall accountability for the event budgets and P&L for the events division. Making strategically sound decision around where to minimise cost or invest more resource to maximise the short- and long-term benefit to the business.
  • Research, negotiate and appoint all event suppliers including AV, Venue, Hotels, Agencies, Expo, Printers, Branding, F&B outsource company's, H&S etc.
  • Partner with your team and marketing to set up registration systems for each event and coordinate the effective management of all live digital marketing for the events including speaker interviews, highlights, social media content, alongside ensuring deliverables for sponsors and media partners are met
  • Ensure effective speaker management including speaker expenses and travel, joining instructions, presentations, brochures etc.
  • Work with the Event Director to identify and propose event-specific growth opportunities to continue to drive the commercial interests of the business including the expansion of our mining, agriculture, energy, content works and virtual portfolios.
  • Partner with other divisional heads and their specialists to ensure that events are delivered effectively, efficiently and within budget
  • Present and provide regular reporting and insight on the progress of each event to the business and key stakeholders, including the Executive Team
  • Liaise regularly with existing event sponsors to ensure we deliver on their event partnership agreements
  • Provide solutions where business challenges arise, in a timely manner and with the ability to influence key stakeholders with recommendations
  • End-to-end project management of each event, working to detailed timelines and taking responsibility for ensuring that all team members and wider stakeholders are aware of all relevant deadlines.

Sales:

  • Provide oversight to operations to ensure overall account management of clients once the contract comes through (25 - 35 per event)
  • Work with Event Director to ensure cost management and inventory mapping is delivered on every deal

Finance:

  • Liaise where needed with credit control for the events to ensure all delegates and sponsors have paid prior to the event
  • Similarly work with finance if required to ensure tracking of payments for suppliers and the business has full visibility of upcoming payments due well in advance of payment

During events

  • Be a visible presence at events to ensure effective onsite management and health & safety of all stakeholders
  • Collate feedback from attendees to drive improvements or generate ideas for future events, focussing on our strategic customers
  • Ensure excellent onsite experiences for our attendees through our own team and those of our vendors

EVENT EXECUTION:

  • Attend regular events meetings with all key stakeholders to ensure smooth communication flow
  • Ensure a thorough and detailed understanding of the operational status of all current and upcoming events, recognising and addressing priorities, risks, and challenges, providing support to teams/individuals as needed

TEAM MANAGEMENT:

  • Be a fully engaged and motivating leader for the operations team
  • Recruit, engage, develop, and retain a team of events staff and/or suppliers to develop commercial events ideas and create events
  • Supporting the team and manage performance through regular performance review meetings with direct reports to set objectives, monitor performance against those objectives and ensure development against any gaps

At ENB we understand our subject is at the forefront of world consciousness as energy systems transition rapidly, but we also write for a wide audience of well-informed energy professionals.

YOUR ROLE:

This position is responsible for producing assigned news and feature content for Aspermont's energy focussed publication Energy News Bulletin (ENB). The reporter will cover Australia and the Asia Pacific's energy sector, from upstream developments to policy, geopolitics, global energy markets and new energy.

The journalist will also coordinate the content for special print editions and work with the production team to help finalise flat plans when needed.

An ability to work fast to high standards with a passion for explaining the energy transition are important. A background in energy, finance, the wider resources industry or science is helpful but not a necessity.

The role will report into our ENB Editor and be based from our Perth Office.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE BUSINESS WILL INCLUDE:

  • Working with the editor, deputy editor on breaking daily news, features, sub editing stories and attending events.
  • Working with the editors to determine daily coverage and longer-term features, working to tight deadlines.
  • Assisting with the content editing and online publications as required.
  • Producing copy according to the Aspermont Editorial Department house style, and to specified high levels of quality and accuracy.

ABOUT PNG REPORT:

PNG Report is a thrice-weekly news bulletin dedicated to business developments in PNG and its immediate geographic surrounds. A mix of news briefs and news features is delivered in newsletter format on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The content is focused largely on the extractive industries but tracks developments in the broader business environment, and keeps a close watch on how changes to the political landscape effect business operations.

YOUR ROLE

The editor's core responsibility is to write and organise the content for the newsletters each week, and oversee production and delivery of those newsletters. The role involves organising and subediting op-ed and other contributor editorial, and representing the brand at relevant industry events. Periodical trips to PNG has been a requirement previously and is likely to be so again at some level as business travel normalises.

All brands within the Aspermont stable are reviewing how they use multimedia content opportunities and social media. The editor would be responsible for driving increased contributions of podcast and video content on PNG Report, and managing social media accounts for greater brand recognition.

The editor will support the sales team with commercial initiatives as well as creating new commercial ideas. They will also work closely with the subscriptions team and use Google Analytics to track reader engagement and improve the content mix to drive growing subscription revenue.

PNG will periodically print a magazine or supplement based on an existing template, should the commercial opportunity present. In such instances, the editor will work with the sales team to coordinate the product offering, brief the project into the production team, then project manage its delivery to market.

The editor of PNG Report will report into the managing editor, mining editorial and research.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE BUSINESS WILL INCLUDE:

  • As editor you are responsible for ensuring the required quality and quantity of content is generated to specified deadlines.
  • Day-to-day co-ordination/management of reporting, event-coverage, field trip, subediting/proofing, and newsletter sending, to specified standards and in line with agreed budget controls.
  • Communicating at a high level with key stakeholders in the industry and representing the Aspermont Mining editorial department (and specifically PNG Report) on field trips, at press conferences and other business industry events, and generating content as required.

YOUR ROLE: Strategic Projects Advisor
REPORTING TO: Chief Commercial Officer

Summary:

Launched in 2020, ContentWorks is a service that provides custom content and marketing solutions to clients who are looking for support to create content. Content formats can include White papers, case studies, blogs, infographics, research, and videos. By providing access to our editorial topic experts across Mining, Energy, and agriculture we can support clients with their marketing content needs. Our growth in the past 24 months has resulted in the creation of a Special Projects Executive role.

A fast-growing area of ContentWorks is our integrated programs where we focus on a specific topic matter and source multiple sponsors and partners. A typical project would involve a video panel discussion, custom report, digital promotion, and lead generation. We plan to launch 8 projects in 2023 which will require the Special Projects Executive to source and sell suitable partner and sponsorship opportunities to clients with active applications or thought leadership within each of the topic areas.

This will require strong new business development, research skills and engagement with our existing customer base and sales team to build a strong revenue channel.

The role will require a tenacious self-starter that can assess topic matter and identify potential customers who are specialists in this area to sell sponsorship to. An ability to be a self-researcher, use search engines and social channels to build target accounts is required.

In addition, the role will also provide the opportunity to sell turnkey content solutions to new clients that need support with their content creations services.

ABOUT THE FUNCTION:

Founded in 1909 by Herbert Hoover, Mining Magazine (MM) is the single definitive guide to mining. Mining Magazine offers in-depth, technical insight into all operational aspects of mining. The title is designed to inform and assist mine management with decisions on mining techniques and technologies, as well as issues affecting their workforce, logistics and supply chains.

The title sits alongside sister technical publication Australia's Mining Monthly (AMM) and our flagship UK-based investment publication, Mining Journal (MJ). Our other financial mining news websites are MiningNews.net and Notícias de Mineração Brasil (MiningNewsBrazil), covering Australia and Brazil respectively. 

YOUR ROLE

You will be part of the core MM editorial team responsible for covering the operational mining space through the publication of a daily newsletter and monthly print publication. As a reporter for MM, you will work with the editor and deputy editor to cover the daily news beat, as well as conceptualising and delivering on feature ideas. You will be an ambassador for the MM and Aspermont brands through industry events, social media and the development of your own industry network. The MM reporter will also share in the digital and print production processes, mainly through proof reading. The brand has a growing multimedia presence and the MM reporter is expected to support further growth through polished delivery of video and podcast content. 

YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE BUSINESS WILL INCLUDE:

  • An enthusiasm for how technology and engineering advances are shaping the mining industry
  • Working with the MM team to create compelling, market-leading content to build the MM subscriber base
  • Taking an innovative and creative approach towards content development, contributing to MM's aspiration to elevate technical coverage of the mining industry to a new level
  • Being commercially aware and supportive of key commercial initiatives being executed by the editor in collaboration with the sales teams
  • Behaving professionally and collaboratively with not just MM colleagues but with other content brands and support functions including marketing, digital, production, subscriptions, events and, of course, sales.

ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL HAVE TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

  • Substantial editorial writing experience in online/print mining media • Editing/sub-editing skills
  • Business and technical knowledge of the mining and related sectors • Ability to work under deadline pressures
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal 
  • Outstanding level of accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Confident and credible in speaking with senior executives and other industry leaders 
  • Excellent organisational skills 

WORKING AT ASPERMONT

ABOUT THE EXECUTIVE FUNCTION:

The Executive Function is currently made up of the Group Managing Director, Chief Operations Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Commercial Officer, and the Group People Director. The team are currently located mostly within London, UK, however the Managing Director is located within Singapore. In addition to the Executive Team, we also have group of Heads of Function, with one of those being our Head of Finance, who also operates as our Company Secretary and supports at a Board level for our four board members, including the Chairperson.

YOUR ROLE:

Your role is a newly created position, which has been generated to primarily offer executive support to our Managing Director, but also our Company Secretary. With support also being provided for the Board members and wider Executive Team. You will report into both the Managing Director and the Company Secretary and ideally you would be located within Singapore, however we are also open to applicants based in Perth, Australia.

Support for the Managing Director

You will offer key assistance to the Managing Director to remove day to day tasks, allowing them to free up their time to focus on more strategic aspects of his role. This would include:

  • Managing his frequent and international travel including travel and accommodation bookings, changes, in addition to any additional travel requirements such as visas or documentation
  • Supporting with the management of their diary, by scheduling meetings with clients, booking events
  • Supporting the management and logistics of our investor roadshows
  • Taking minutes at meetings the Managing Director cannot attend
  • Assisting on various personal affairs

Support for the Company Secretary

You will provide pivotal support to our Company Secretary and the managing of our board meetings and requirements by:

  • Taking, preparing minutes and signing of minutes from formal meetings, including the Board meetings
  • Collating and maintaining the action items list following each Board Meeting and ensuring each action owner fulfils their actions within the desired timeframe
  • Maintaining our master risk register document, ensuring the register is updated by key stakeholders on a quarterly basis and that action items are completed
  • Preparing board packs ahead of such meetings
  • Maintaining corporate calendar by:
    • Booking meetings and amending dates where required
    • Setting up and hosting of board room, invites and virtual dial in details for such meetings via Zoom or Skype
  • Preparation of basic Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) announcements and converting provided content into the standard announcement format. Adding ASX Announcements to the company website and marketing as requested
  • Organising travel and accommodation for the Board members for any in person meetings.

All of the above support will be provided across all of our legal entities including Aspermont Limited and Blue Horseshoe Ventures, where relevant.

General Support:

  • Scheduling monthly Head of Function and Executive meetings
  • Scheduling quarterly All Company meetings
  • Managing all international travel requests for executive team and board
  • Providing general shareholder management support
  • On occasion providing support to the Executive team with diary management, scheduling of meetings or other administrative support
  • In addition to any other adhoc duties that may be required.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE BUSINESS WILL INCLUDE:

  • Offering day to day support to the Board, Executive Team and Company Secretary allowing them to operate at a more strategic level to achieve our business aspiration

ABOUT THE FUNCTION

Founded in 1835, Mining Journal covers all aspects of the industry, from grass-roots exploration, through financing and development, and production and marketing. It uniquely combines this with in-depth reporting on the multi-billion-dollar mining technology and services sector.

Significant growth opportunities exist across the Americas region, which will be your primary area of focus. The function of this role is to continue capitalizing on our strong recent performance on the Mining Journal.

YOUR ROLE

You will be part of the core Mining Journal editorial team responsible for covering the financial mining space through the publication of a daily newsletter and monthly print publication. As a reporter for MJ, you will work with the editor and deputy editor to cover the daily news beat, as well as conceptualising and delivering on feature ideas. You will be an ambassador for the MJ and Aspermont brands through industry events, social media and the development of your own industry network. The MJ senior reporter will also share in the digital and print production processes, mainly through proof reading. The brand has a growing multimedia presence and the MJ senior reporter is expected to support further growth through polished delivery of video and podcast content.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE BUSINESS WILL INCLUDE:

  • Creating compelling, market-leading multimedia content to help build the MJ readership and engagement
  • Bringing proactive and creative ideas for content including different formats to drive audience engagement
  • Building and maintaining an understanding of the information needs of the audience and how to deliver engaging content to address them
  • Being commercially aware and supportive of key commercial initiatives being executed by the editor in collaboration with the sales teams
  • Building excellent relationships to enable collaboration with the MJ and wider Aspermont teams
  • Developing contact networks across the industry by attending events and exhibitions
  • Supporting the development of social media engagement on our channels

ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL HAVE TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

  • Substantial editorial writing experience in online/print media
  • Experience working within either the Mining, Commodities, Energy or Financial industry is essential
  • Experience in reporting or analysis using data sets
  • Editing/sub-editing skills - a passion for conciseness and clean copy
  • Outstanding level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Comfort in working in a fast-paced environment with timely deliverables
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Ability to collaborate with and support key stakeholders
