Corporate Financial Planning & Reporting Accountant

THE FINANCE FUNCTION

The Finance Department at Aspermont is integral to the company's growth and success. The team plays a key role in supporting strategic decision-making, managing cash flow, and ensuring compliance with the relevant in-country financial regulations, policies, and industry standards. By safeguarding the company's integrity and mitigating financial risks, the finance function helps maintain the company's financial health and long-term sustainability.

Operating as a global team with bases in London, Perth, and Manila, the Finance Department works collaboratively across regions to achieve departmental objectives, streamline processes, and ensure successful completion of key projects.

YOUR ROLE

Reporting directly to the Group Chief Financial Officer, you'll be a central figure in delivering accurate, timely, and insightful financial information to senior leadership, the Board and external market. This role blends technical accounting with commercial business partnering so ideal for someone who enjoys both precision and influence. There will be some travel required. You'll take ownership across a broad and engaging remit, including:

Financial Reporting

  • Assist statutory accounts preparation in line with IFRS and group policies including (HY, FY Qtrly 4c AISIC Reporting)
  • Support market releases
  • Lead on AASB 18 capitalising of software accounting

Commercial Business Partnering

  • Support bids, tenders, and strategic decision-making with robust analysis
  • Support commercial or supplier contract creation or amendments
  • Develop business cases for investment
  • Lead R&D grants
  • Ensure revenue recognition, cost control, and project profitability (associated with tenders)

Corporate Planning

  • Lead Group budgeting, forecasting and board level reporting.
  • Assist in preparing ad hoc reports as required.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Group Finance Manager and team as needed.
  • Take on additional accounting related task as required by the Group Finance Manager.

Systems & Transformation

  • Play a key role in finance/business system optimisation and use
  • Drive process improvements and use of Company Data Warehouse BI to drive reporting
  • Leverage AI tools and processes to improve productivity

ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL HAVE TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, about to or recently Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent)
  • Good depth of accounting experience or a demonstrated ability to learn and take on more complex accounting responsibilities with support
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial reporting principles
  • Proven experience revenue and cost recognition principles, and statutory compliance in multinational environments
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong systems knowledge including accounting software (e.g., Xero)
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and other financial tools
  • Ability to work with cross-border teams and coordinate with multiple stakeholders
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong collaboration skills to partner effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

YOUR ROLE

You will lead the conference planning and delivery for all Aspermont Events in Australia and globally. Reporting to the Group Head of Events, you will take on the day-to-day management of conference production, demands of growing & delivering a high-quality program content with respect to all Aspermont Events including bespoke events.

Your role will be to lead on the conference planning and delivery of all Aspermont Events to ensure they are best in class through top notch conference program, content production, including speaker, chair acquisition and industry partner management. You will also be collaborating closely with the editorial, sales, marketing, customer success, delegate sales and operations teams to deliver conference production.

As a Conference Producer, you will be joining our growing events team and working across our continuously successful portfolio of events focusing on writing compelling and topical content and agendas for all Aspermont Events including concurrent events such as workshops, masterclasses, forums, roundtables and seminars.

Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Researching the market to understand key trends and topics in the resources sector
  • Working with the Group Head of Events, in conjunction with the content team as subject matter experts, on content production and agenda build
  • Working with the Group Head of Events on program production
  • Identifying and building relationships with industry leading executives conducting telephone interviews, to some extent face-to-face meetings and/or virtual meetings
  • Attracting and securing leading key industry speakers
  • Play a key role in developing and delivering events, while supporting sales to drive sponsorship revenue
  • Stay ahead of evolving event trends and ensure Aspermont leads in innovative, best in class content led event formats
  • Researching industry events, highlighting strengths and weaknesses
  • Building the identity and promote each event across social media
  • Working seamlessly with Marketing, Sales and Operations to provide the best pre-event and onsite experience possible
  • International travel to internal and industry events

ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL HAVE TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

  • Extensive experience within event production, preferably within mining and the resources sector
  • Knowledge of the mining/oil and gas sector, preferred but not essential
  • Experience launching events (topic generation/validation)
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to partner effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to communicate confidently and build rapport with senior stakeholders and executives, both internally and externally.
  • Strong business acumen and commercial awareness
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst ensuring standards and deadlines are met.
