ABOUT THE FUNCTION:

Busy and fast paced, Aspermont Finance and Controlling division is responsible for the month end closing process and assurance of correct books and records. The division undertakes performance analysis against budget and forecasts, and supports decision making processes to facilitate cost out initiatives.

The Finance division operates in teams based in London, Perth and Manila, but despite being scattered geographically and functionally, often collaborates on shared projects and has regular virtual catch-ups.

YOUR ROLE

You will use your skills in a challenging environment within our team, in finance and controlling. The role involves extensive hands-on task delivery and will be focused on the smooth running of day-to-day reporting and management accounts preparation, with some involvement in annual projects like budgeting. By using your expertise in Microsoft Excel, you will be producing insights for sales teams, contribute to KPI reports for the team and for the business, as well support with ad-hoc analyses.

On the accounting side of the role, you will be contributing to the month closure procedures, which include preparing and posting accounting journals, investigating budget variances, and producing reconciliations for key areas and accounts.

You will also play a part in annual budget, forecasting and audit processes, which makes this role a great opportunity to get exposure to these Strategy and Governance related areas of any accounting qualification. The ideal candidate will have previous exposure to financial/business analysis environments. Although accounting/financial training is not a requirement, it will be an advantage.

REPORTS TO: Business Analyst

YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE BUSINESS WILL INCLUDE:

  • Being the key point of contact for day-to-day Finance admin queries, such as bank statement checks or supplier form completion.
  • Ownership of reports and reconciliations from start to finish, ensuring those are run on time and do not contain errors.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as in a team. You may be asked to complete small projects for which you would be required to undertake research, analyse the findings and collaborate with other departments and external service providers, and report on progress.
  • Proactive, positive attitude towards change and improvements.

ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE YOU'LL HAVE TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

  • Previous finance/business analysis experience is essential, while accounting, financial planning or other business qualification or training would be an advantage.
  • Detailed, methodical, and analytical approach with attention to detail.
  • Capable of working under pressure and to successfully deliver to immovable deadlines.
  • Able to manage multiple stakeholders and prioritise work appropriately.

WORKING AT ASPERMONT

You'll be able to benefit from a hybrid approach between being based out of our London WeWork office at Bank Station, right in the heart of the financial district, as well half of the time be based remotely/at home. ABOUT THE FUNCTION:

With our subscriptions revenues and subscriber base continuing to grow, we are looking to recruit a New Business Subscription Sales Executive to join our existing team to drive revenue growth across our range of mining and energy products.

Aspermont's success over the past five years within subscriptions has been built from our account-based selling and marketing approach, and this role plays a vital part within this process.

You will be part of an international subscriptions sales team who are primarily located across the UK and Australia that maintain and drive activity across MNN, AMM, ENB, PNG capitalizing on our strong recent new business performance, and the opportunities that are available to Aspermont across both the wider Asia region as well as Australia.

YOUR ROLE

Reporting to the Group Sales Director, the role will take responsibility for bringing in new business from existing inbound leads, as well as proactively selling into targeted institutions. The role is fast paced, and you will be selling to an international client base across a range of publications and services.

You will be joining an existing international subscription sales team spanning London, Perth and Belo Horizonte, and should enjoy working and being part of a team, as well being happy to work independently.

You will be working across both the mining finance and mining operations industries, as well as energy which is a huge growth opportunity for us as a business.

Excellent leads will be provided by marketing, these will range from prospects downloading sample information to people requesting trials. Alongside these enquiries you will be expected to be proactive and be able to show initiative and build your own pipeline of new business prospects. You should be confident in managing and developing sales opportunities spanning the complete sales cycle, from prospecting to closing. Full sales training and support will be given, alongside industry and product training to ensure you are fully equipped to succeed in your role.

ABOUT THE TEAM

You will be part of an international subscriptions sales team who are primarily located across the UK and Australia. Day to day you will be a key player across MNN, AMM, ENB, PNG by providing support to the team to achieve their sales targets, alongside working on strategic initiatives to continue to support the commercial success of the Subscriptions Team.

YOUR ROLE

This role plays a pivotal part within the Australian Subscriptions Team through delivering an interesting mix of day-to-day sales, that supports the overall success of the Subscriptions Team, in addition to supporting the on-boarding for new team members, and the development of existing team members with their sales techniques and competencies.

Another key component of the role is working in partnership and supporting the Group Subscriptions Sales Director and Group Operations Manager to maximise potential to achieve budgeted renewal and new business revenue, through reviewing commercial challenges and working to seek workable solutions, or identifying commercial opportunities.

The majority of your role (around 80-85%) will be focused on generating personal revenue, from an existing book of predominantly Australian based corporate accounts as well as generating new business. You should be a proactive sales leader, and enjoy the challenge of researching and developing new business right through the sales cycle from prospecting to closing.

In conjunction with your personal selling, your dedication to working with and upskilling the Australian based team (around 10%) will assist them to deliver on their targets. The remainder of which (5%) will be spent partnering the Group Subscriptions Sales Director.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO THE BUSINESS WILL INCLUDE:

  • Achieve personal monthly new business and renewals targets, personal selling will take up 80% of your time with the following other responsibilities taking up the remaining 20%.
  • Work with the Group Subscriptions Sales Director to identify and treat areas for improvement within the Subscriptions Sales Team, including product knowledge, sales approach and decision making.
  • Work with the Group Subscriptions Sales Director to build out a new business plan for each Australian subscription's brand. This will involve researching and cross analysing each major company type against our existing subscribers across mining finance, mining operations and energy and developing an evolving key targets list for each grouping.
  • Working with the Group Subscriptions Sales Director analyse and map out the plan for further subscriptions growth across Asia.
  • Conduct weekly and meaningful 1:1 meetings with the your team to support their overall success within their roles, the function and also within the Company.
  • Provide ad hoc daily support to the Australian Mining & Energy Subscriptions Team in relation to questions around price, packages to offer and general sales advice.
  • Work with the Group Subscriptions Sales Director and Marketing team to increase the current lead volume and quality coming through to the Australian Subscriptions Team.
  • Assist with staff training, particularly focusing on product knowledge, industry knowledge and sales technique and efficiency.
  • Coordinate monthly meetings with Editorial and Advertising in Perth to improve the flow of information between departments.
  • Work with the team one day a week in the office, to provide mentoring and support and also to help feedback to the business any concerns.
