MiningNews editor wins 2017 AMEC award

MiningNews.net editor Kristie Batten has won her second annual journalism prize from Australia's major mineral explorers and developers association, the Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC), taking out the 2017 Electronic Media Award for her MNN report, ‘Whole lotta love for lithium in 2016'.

The report, capturing the early fervour around ASX lithium stocks and markets, was published at the end of last year.

Batten also won the AMEC Electronic Media Award in 2013 and received the prestigious Diggers & Dealers Media Award in 2015.

"Kristie richly deserves this latest recognition," Aspermont group editor Richard Roberts said.

"She has been one of the industry's outstanding editors and reporters over the past decade.

"AMEC is Australia's peak mining industry representative body and was probably the first such body worldwide to publicly recognise journalists and their contribution to understanding of the industry, and raising its profile. The organisation's annual media award attracts entries from all the main business and industry news outlets.

"This latest recognition vindicates our continuing investment in quality journalism and shows why we have the only subscription-growth products in the marketplace."

Batten has been with MiningNews.net since 2008 and was appointed editor in 2012.

The AMEC Media Awards have been running since 1985 and recognise excellence in journalism covering the Australian mineral exploration and mining industry.
