We're looking for an experienced B2B journalist or editor, who is interested in developing this title, in both print and online.

While drilling is often viewed as a niche sector, it is involved in a wide range of applications from construction to mining. Accordingly, if you're not afraid to tackle technical topics and to get into the nitty-gritty of a specialised subject area, this could be the role for you.

The Editor is responsible for overseeing production of the print edition of GDI, as well as GDI website and e-newsletter content. The role involves writing, assigning and supervising completion of work, editing and proofing.

This is a full-time position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • As Editor you are responsible for ensuring the required quality and quantity of content is generated to specified deadlines for the print/tablet edition of GDI (published 10 times a year), as well as the bimonthly e-newsletter;
  • Communicating with key industry figures, and representing GDI at international industry events and on site visits;
  • Developing reader engagement through social media platforms and other promotional activity;
  • Maintaining a sound working knowledge of the information needs of the readers and ensuring GDI output meets those needs;
  • Ongoing development of editorial strategy and core product offering, and marketing of same;
  • Maintaining sound awareness of competitor products; and
  • Working closely with advertising, marketing and production teams.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Solid experience in B2B print/online publishing;
  • Comfortable using CMS and social media platforms;
  • Excellent editing and subediting skills;
  • Ability to produce well-researched, accurate and engaging copy;
  • Experience in conducting interviews with company executives.

LOCATION:

  • We are based in a friendly, bright WeWork office space easily accessible from the City of London. 

COMPANY PERKS:

  • Standard hours are 9.00am to 5.30pm (37.5 hours per week). Given the international nature of the industry, there may be a need to work variable hours, and we offer a degree of flexibility;
